What is going in Somaliland is chaos and misunderstanding of democracy and freedom of speech logic. These days the situation has reached to unbearable level, everyone speaks with whatever he wants about anything he wants. Some of them are usually talk about serious government matters which they don’t have any role or stake at all.
You can see a group of people who comes together ahead to speak for another individual (citizen),who could maybe a business owner, government officer or normal citizen, all the reason they are speaking for that individual is just ‘we are the same tribe or clan’.
Generally the people to have this kind of mentality is ridicules, idiotic, lack of citizenship, short sight, individualist and very poor understanding about citizenship and common country interest nationals. The people of the same country has got freedom of movement to go to anywhere of that country soil and to own any property by a legal way.
The main point here is the citizens of particular nation should know and accept that they have equal for obligations and rights and no one has right to stop from another citizen any part of his/her rights and authority should guarantee this for all.
The very strange in Somaliland is many groups of people coming to any TV and they say something offensive xxxxxxx to every person in that country and they think at the same time they are heroes. As a norm for all countries, every segment of the population of particular country must go under specified department of the government administration, and the department as normal it should have its own ladder authority; from minister, director to senior and junior staff, so when this kind of mistake comes from any citizen, that person should be accountable to one of those departments and if the person crosses the border the department must deal with the person and ask about his agenda in the matter.
This case in Somaliland, it seems that the things are going out of hand and all what these people saying are very counterproductive speeches without realising its negative impacts among the public feelings, so I think the role of the government is to step in and put the situation to a limit.
First the government itself should be very logic and competent to address its people and at the same time it must have some reputation of worth to be trusted, then the individual departments should be in a position to deal with this kind of rebellion and to educate its people and anyone crosses the border should face the consequences and feel the pressure and weight of the law.
usually these kind of tribal speeches are ignited by these situations; when the governments decides to sell any public properties back to the public, fires someone from his job, someone wants government position etc. the question here is whether the government flows through the norm procedures for selling these properties. When the government wants to sell, the procedure is to publicise the sales and invite to every interested citizen to bid and fulfill the conditions and simply the highest bidder will win to own the property and the matter is over, but if the government offers just to certain selected group/person/company, that practice is totally forbidden and people has right to rebel and refuse because it’s manifest corruption and it’s public provocation and should not be allowed to happen and if the governments acts like this it must blame itself not to anyone else.
Here I don’t mean to any particular group or event but this become a normal practice for some of the people specially those think that they have got a voice and traditional position like unfortunately; sultans, chiefs, elders and proclaimed politician who speaks in the name of tribe and clan.
If they would know the feeling of their audiences when they are on the TV, they would never come to any occasion of this kind, they deserved respect and gratitude from the Somaliland public but they must be very care about what they saying and how they saying.
